Welcome to Year 6 Autumn Term 2014

Our Learning Challenge is:

What is the impact of conflict on everyday life?

Our Key Text is:

Friend or Foe

We have been enthralled by our current class novel, which is written by our favourite author Michael Morpurgo. I tell the story of two young boys who are evacuated out war zone that is London during world war II to the idyllic surroundings of Devon. So far we love the impish Tucky, who has already been repeatedly told off and thrown up during the train journey there. We will keep you updated as we read on and find out more...

Writing Stories with Flashbacks with 'The Piano':

Year 6 have been working hard to write stories using flashbacks.  We used the short animated clip 'The Piano' to inspire our budding writers to develop their stories. Examples of their fantastic stories to follow soon...

Persuasive Writing

Why not have a listen to some of the wonderful persuasive writing our Year 6 team have been working on recently.  They have been trying hard to use 'Imagine..' openers to their sentences to really entice you to visit YMCA Lakeside.  Pupils used I-Movie to produce their own mini-persuasive advert. Watch the videos below to hear some examples.

Twenty-four Year 6 children had the honour of performing a dance with the Mersey Swing dance troupe as part of a World War 1 commemoration event held recently at Firwood Cricket Club. Attended by many members of the local community the participation of the children of Bedford Primary School at this wonderful event was highly commended. The children danced beautifully and with great enthusiasm and were highly praised for their outstanding behaviour and manners. They truly sparkled and we are incredibly proud of them. One gentleman said that he “would never forget the children and staff at Bedford.”

Lakeside 2014!

Year 6 recently journeyed to Lakeside YMCA in the Lake District, Cumbria.  The children thoroughly enjoyed their time there and it was definitely a trip to remember for a long time.  The photos below speak for themselves!
