The Basic Skills Quality Mark
In July 2009 we were awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark for the second time. The externally verified quality mark recognises our ongoing commitment to improving basic skills in literacy and numeracy.

Activemark
The The award of our activemark logo demonstrates that:
• The percentage of Bedford pupils participating in at least 2 hours high quality PE and school sport each week is significantly above the national average
• We hold an annual sports day
• We have met or bettered the national average for pupils involved in sports clubs linked to our school

Ambassador Award
We currently hold Ambassador Schools status. We are one of only 27 UK schools who have been identified by Espresso education having demonstrated an ongoing commitment to integrating ICT across the curriculum.

Ofsted Outstanding Logo
In February 2008, Bedford was again named as an outstanding school, by Ofsted. An accolade of which we are very proud!

Healthy Schools Award
The Healthy Schools Award recognises the achievement of our school in four key areas: personal, social and health education (PSHE), healthy eating (and drinking), physical activity and emotional health and well-being.

Financial Management Standard in Schools (FMSIS)
The FMSIS standard, awarded by the Department for Children Schools and Families, demonstrates that the school is financially well managed.

Intermediate International Schools Award (ISA)
This award references our commitment to substantial curriculum-based international activities. We are currently working towards full ISA status.

Silver Eco Schools Award
Eco-Schools is an international award programme that guides schools on their sustainable journey, providing a framework to help embed these principles into the heart of school life. At Bedford we currently have our Silver award and our eco warriors are working toward Green Flag status.

Radiowaves Champion School
In December 2009, we were selected to become a Radiowaves Champion School for producing interesting, entertaining and thought provoking stories and captivating video and audio reports. The award also recognises the talents of our Bedford Beats reporters.
