Below you will find information on what's around the community. At the bottom of this page you will also find information on the Bootle Community Partnership, a self-formed group of local organisations including Bedford Primary who meet regularly enabling us to plan working together for the benefit of all involved.

 Bedford Road Community Centre

Bedford Road Community Centre is based in the old Bedford Road Primary School. The centre is run by volunteers from the local neighbourhood who are working hard to develop a range of activities to meet the needs of the community it serves. Currently the centre has a Mums, Dads and Toddler group, dancing, drama and taekwondo clubs. The centre also hosts Slimmer’s World and regular community meetings.

Cambridge Children’s Centre
If you are pregnant, a parent or a carer of children aged birth to five then check out the variety of services we have to offer. We have a fee paying childcare provision with both full and part time places available and a maintained nursery school for 3 & 4 year olds.
 
We have child and family health services supported by the Centre Midwife and Health Visiting Team, Parent and Child activities, Family Learning, Family Support, Employment and Training Support. Come along and visit, our team is friendly and approachable and always willing to help with any enquiries you may have.

Christ Church Youth and Community Centre
 
There are lots of activities on offer for people of all ages including different youth provisions such as:

Award Groups which run every day after school from 3.30pm to 5.30pm in which you can take part in Duke of Edinburgh Awards, National Navigation Awards and much more…

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening from 7.00pm – 9.00 pm, the Bootleway Group is on for young people aged 8 – 12 years old. At Bootleway, the young people take part in activities such as cookery, awards work, sports, dance and drama.

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 7.30pm – 9.30pm we have a Bootleway Group for the older age group, which is for those aged between 13 – 19. Lately are older Bootleway Groups have been completing awards, doing fashion projects and boxing sessions, as well as going out on trips such as paintballing and ice skating.

Everyday after school, we have an After Schools Club for young people aged 4 – 14. The After School Club starts at 3pm and finishes at 6. We can pick you up from your school, and then your parent/guardian picks you up from our centre at 6pm. ASC is £4 per day and places need to be booked in advance.

During school holidays and half terms, we offer provision called SPLASH! Children aged 4 – 14 can attend splash and we know have different time options so parents can choose the provision that’s easiest for them. Splash prices start at £7 per day and need to be booked in advance.

Thursday Evenings, 6.00pm – 8.30pm we have a group called Bridge for young people with disabilities, where they can achieve awards, make friends and have fun!

Lifestyles is a group for over 50s. They take part in lunches, tai chi and day trips out.

Fun 4 Tots is on of a Monday and Friday morning, it offers support for parents and it is an opportunity for toddlers to play and make new friends. Cost £1.50 per session.

Evolve Neighbourhood Regeneration is responsible for delivering the Government’s Housing Market Renewal programme in the Queens, Bedford, Worcester and Hawthorne Neighbourhoods of South Sefton. The aim is to create a thriving sustainable community. We tackle issues such as the environment, education, employment, health, decent homes and community safety. Evolve are part of the Plus Dane Group.

Evolve support local providers of services to children and young people with small pots of funding that helps to provide positive activities during school holidays.
Evolve support a youth forum and provide training and support for young people to have a say and making a difference, becoming a younger voice for your community.

Hillside High School
Hillside High School is a dedicated community partner. The school hosts a Monday Evening Community Night which features a range of activities for children and adults. Currently the Monday Community Night timetable includes badminton for children and adults; Holiday Spanish; ESOL course for people who do not have English as their first language; A Level Theatre Studies and Girls and Boys Fitness. The school also offers evening drop in sessions with the School Nurse and Learning Mentor, participates in charity bag packing at local supermarkets, has Sports leaders working in community centres and junior schools, runs Active Family days and opens its car park up to fans attending Everton matches.

Hugh Baird College
Hugh Baird College works hard to promote Adult Education in the Community and the Workplace and to raise the profile of the College in general. The College has two Community Development Workers who are happy to attend Open Days, Coffee Mornings etc in order to chat with anyone who may be interested in updating skills. We have a very informal approach in order to encourage those who may be lacking confidence.

The May Logan Healthy Living Centre in Bootle opened in September 1999 dedicated to improving the health, well being and quality of life for local people. The centre offers over 60 activities and services including a one stop information point, various courses including Spanish and IT Courses, smoking and alcohol services, Adult and Children’s ophthalmology and Audiology clinics, IT suite, crèche, cafe, ball pool, children and parent services, baby services including baby massage and infant feeding groups, parenting courses, Weight Management Courses, counselling and support, Family Planning, Young Persons Sexual Health Service, Parent Education Classes, Liverpool Women’s Midwifery and Alder Hey clinics.

Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre
Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre has been in existence since 1990 and is a registered charity with a management committee of local trustees, below is a list of the services that we offer:
-Pre school project for children aged 2 and a half - 5 Yrs.     
9.15-12-15 term time and some holiday periods
- after school project, 3.30-6pm term time, limited pick ups from Bedford Praimary School.
- Play Schemes - every holiday period except Christmas. Different packages available please phone for more info.
-Junior Youth - Mon & Wed evening 6-8pm
We are registered with Ofsted and our current report can be seen on the Ofsted website, alternatively a copy can be requested from childcare co-ordinators. All Staff are suitably qualified and have undergone an enhanced police check.
We also have a variety of adult education courses going on throughout the year, please phone for more info. Our Genealogy/Family History Group who can help you trace your family tree meets on Thursday evenings between 6.00 - 8.00 pm and Friday at 9.30am.

Bootle Community Partnership

The Bootle Community Partnership is a self-formed group of local organisations including Bedford Primary who meet regularly enabling us to plan working together for the benefit of all involved. For 3 years the partnership has held a free fun-filled Fun in the Community Day which year after year has attracted local people to try new activities. In 2011 we held a partnership Christmas Fayre, the event was very well attended and everyone had a great time.

The Bootle Community Partners are: Bedford Primary School, Bedford Road Community Centre, The Bridge, Cambridge Children’s Centre, Christ Church CE Primary, Christ Church Youth and Community Centre, Cosmopolitan, Evolve Neighbourhood Regeneration, Hillside High School, Hugh Baird College, The May Logan Healthy Living Centre, Merseyside Police, Riverside Housing, Sefton Park Rangers, Turn It Around and Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre.
