Pupil Voice
At Bedford, we work very hard to ensure we value the input of our children and make every effort to ensure pupil voice is loud and proud. On an annual basis each class from years 1-6, democratically elects two representatives to stand on the pupil council. The council play a pivotal role in school life their views and ideas are sought on many matters including school improvement issues, the development of the curriculum and new staff appointments.
Most recently our pupil council worked with a local building firm to design brand new school toilets, with a difference. The toilets across the whole school have been upgraded according to the children’s design ideas. Not only do the toilets have the wow factor for design but they are kinder to the environment too – they have infra red sensor water savers dual flush options to save water consumption and soggy blue paper towels have been replaced by smart energy efficient hand dryers.

Pupil views and interests are also a vital element of our newly designed creative curriculum; their interests and ideas have been used to shape the themes and topics and co-construction of learning is something we constantly strive to achieve.
