SEN

Bedford’s aim is to ensure that all pupils reach their full potential. This includes very able children with exceptional talents, as well as those needing additional support. The early identification and monitoring of children’s special needs is a vital role undertaken by the Special Needs team led by Mrs Braithwaite.

The school implements the SEN Code of Practice and children with difficulties are placed on the school’s SEN register, which is confidential to teachers and families. Class teachers regularly meet with the coordinator to review children’s progress, assess their needs and review Individual Pupil Profiles. The SEN team also liaises with families, Governors and outside agencies.

We employ a large number of classroom assistants to help and support the work of the class teacher. These are highly motivated individuals and an invaluable addition to our team.
