Welcome to Year 3!
Autumn Term: Pirates!
Spring Term: Myths and Legends
Summer Term: Life is a Wonderful Thing
Year 3 using their senses to help them describe the environment.
In Miss Hearn's maths group we have been looking at lots of different ways of measuring, we learnt how to use a trundle wheel and used it to measure different things around the playground. We also have been learning how to convert m to cm and cm to m! Our brains were tired by the end of it all!
Today we all went to Christ Church to see all the features of a Christian church that we have been learning about in RE such as the pulpit, altar, font, pews and praying stools. Reverend Josie told us all about Christmas time in the church, explained some of the special symbols and we had a grand tour!
Captain Fearsome came join our English lesson today and terrified us all! We have since been workng on writing an exciting character descritpition of him to go in our pirate adventure stories.
In order to this we had a great big snowball fight, where we each wrote part of a sentence, threw our snowballs and then extened someone else super sentence. As you can see it was great fun!
Refugees Narrative Week
This week we have all been sharing the same story book 'Refugees' by David Miller, in which two poor, defenceless ducks are forced out of their habitat by rumbling tractors gouging up the swamp. Here are some photographs of the 3D swamp models we made and our freeze frames of sections from the story.
Money makes the world go round....
Miss Jones' maths group have been doing lots of work on money this week. Below are some pictures of us making totals with the big money and buying things from the toy shop. If only all this lovely big money was real!
On the 19th November, we were very lucky to have a visit from two authors - 'The Two Steves', who have written lots of exciting children's books! We were very lucky, as they read one of there brilliant stories to us and chose lots of us to partake in the retelling!
