Bedford Primary School is celebrating after one of its’ Year 6 pupils Chloe Owen won Highly Commended within the Female Sports Personality of the Year category of the recent high profile Sefton Sports Awards attended by Beth Tweddle MBE.

Chloe Owen, age 10 was surprised and delighted to receive her award after staff at her school had nominated her for her significant contribution within primary sports and in particular for her increasing success within her chosen sport of Taekwondo. Chloe, who trains with Liverpool Academy Taekwondo is already showing enormous potential and has won a clutch of medals within national championships. Commenting on her award, Chloe said she was "honoured to have just been nominated and it was so amazing to meet Beth Tweddle, I have loved watching her represent Great Britain”. Chloe often refers to her role model Jade Jones, Taekwondo Olympic Gold medallist 2012, whom she aspires to be like and is now working very hard, training six days a week with her Taekwondo coaches to make the selection for Team GB’s Cadet Academy.
