MISS SCHOOL, MISS OUT!
Regular Attendance is vital if your child is to truly succeed and reach their true potential. The pastoral support team at Bedford work very closely with our families and key outside agencies to promote good attendance.
If your child is absent, it is important that you notify school on the first day of their absence.
How Can I Report An Absence?
- You can call school on 0151-922-1467 and speak to the team. The office is manned from 8am to 4.30pm daily.
- You can call school at anytime and leave a voice message - Option 1
- You can text school- press reply to any message that has come from Bedford Primary School
For welfare reasons, our pastoral team will contact any family whose child is absent and have not contacted school. If contact can not be established via the telephone or text system then a First Day Response visit will be carried out.
For medical reasons, if a child has been absent for three days or more, we request a doctor's note to confirm the reason for their absence. This policy includes an absence that spans a weekend e.g. Friday to Monday with a child returning to school on the Tuesday.
Whenever possible, we ask our families to make specialist medical appointments out of school hours e.g. appointments at Alder Hey. However, if this is not possible we can only authorise absences for appointments on production of an official appointment letter. Routine dental, opticial and medical appointments should be made outside the school day.
Holidays during term time are not permitted.
Any unauthorised periods of absence, including term time holidays, persistent absence or lateness will result in families being issued with penalty notices from the Local Authority, resulting in a fine.
