Fundraising & BEST friends

BEST (Bedford’s Enrichment & Support Trust) is our school’s registered charity. BEST was established in January 2008 to help fund facilities and resources for the children and families of Bedford Primary and the wider local community.

Can you help support our charity?

If your child attends our school or you live, work or run a business locally and you can spare a few hours every now and again to support the work of our BEST charity, please let us know. Whether you have links to local businesses, bake cakes, are willing to sell raffle tickets, help out at a school disco or have new ideas and suggestions for events and activities that you think our families would enjoy, we would welcome your support.

In addition, if you work in a bank we would be delighted to hear from you as our fundraising efforts could potentially be match funded. Please contact the School Office on 0151 922 1467 if this is something you could help us with.

We welcome parents, friends and family in to school to be part of our fundraising. Links between school and home are key to our success, so please consider being part of the BEST team at Bedford. The more volunteers we have, the more fundraising events we can produce - and the money we can raise to support our children and families.

Details of future BEST Friend’s meetings will be posted on this site, on our Twitter page and in our school newsletter, The Bugle, which is published weekly.

BEST Fundraising Events

Our BEST Friends volunteers and school staff work together to plan events throughout the school year to raise funds for our charity and children. We create events that are always fun and enjoyable for our children and their families - whilst raising as much money as possible for our charity. If you have any ideas for fundraising, please share them with us - we would love to hear from you.

We have joined TheGivingMachine allows families to generate cash donations for the school without it costing a penny. There are already more than 4,000 schools taking part in this scheme, with the successful schools raising £1,000’s every year at no extra cost to families.

TheGivingMachine is a not for profit social enterprise whose sole aim is to raise money for UK schools and charities. Every year, online shops pay millions in sales commissions to websites who drive shoppers to them. By shopping via www.TheGivingMachine.co.uk families can ensure that any commission paid on a purchase is converted into a cash donation. TheGivingMachine receives the commission and converts 75% of it into cash, the remainder is used to help towards their operating costs. Example stores taking part in the scheme include Amazon, eBay, M&S, NEXT, Tesco, Sainsbury and John Lewis.

To join the scheme and become a Giver go to www.thegivingmachine.co.uk. Simply enter your name,

e-mail address and postcode and select Bedford Primary as your chosen beneficiary. Then, every time you shop online, logon to TheGivingMachine before you shop and you will make free cash donations with every purchase you make. It doesn’t cost any extra and you do not have to make special purchase to qualify. You will receive e-mails from TheGivingMachine thanking you for your support and letting you know when the school receives a payment. In addition to helping school for free, the benefits of becoming a Giver include exclusive special offers from the online retailers and access to free fun giveaways and competitions.
