  • All hail the curly kale!

    Tue 21 Jun 2016

We are very excited to announce that we have enjoyed the first crop of curly kale grown by our Garden Gang in the school garden.

We picked the curly kale yesterday and today our Catering Team cooked it to serve alongside our Scouse Pie, mash and gravy.

For some of the children it was the first time they had eaten curly kale and all of them enjoyed it very much.

  • Brazil comes to Bedford

    Mon 13 Jun 2016

Today we launched our 'Brazil Comes to Bedford' Olympic Activities with a special Olympic Assembly. We learned lots of facts and figures about the Olympics and Brazil, including the names of the stadia where the events will take place; the history of the Olympics and we even saw some pictures of the Olympic Torch route which is taking place at the moment in Brazil.

The most exciting part of the Assembly was the live draw when each class was assigned a country which they will represent during our Olympic Games. Our flag bearers collected the flags for their classes to be represented as follows: RO India; RG Turkey; 1F Portugal; 1M Italy; 2F Poland; 2sBulgaria; 3W Morroco; 3C Egypt; 4D Mexico; 4A South Africa; 5K Brazil; 5G Lebanon; 6N Sri Lanka; 6F Hungary. Each class will research its country including the culture, food and other interesting facts.

Mrs Braithwaite had one more exciting announcement to make at the Assembly - the whole school will be learning a Samba dance which will be performed at our Closing Ceremony on July 12th 2016, to which all parents and guardians will be invited.

  • The Queen, VIPs and all things great and British at Bedford!

    Fri 10 Jun 2016

We celebrated Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's official 90th Birthday in style today at Bedford Primary with picnic lunches, afternoon tea and even a visit from a little Queen!

All the children were invited to wear their own clothes and ate a lovely picnic lunch served in Union Jack boxes.

Our Garden Gang invited three local Councillors to afternoon tea which included sandwiches containing produce freshly picked from our garden.

Everybody enjoyed the day very much and we hope the Queen has as much fun on her special day tomorrow!

  • Year 5 visit Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral

    Fri 10 Jun 2016

Year 5 pupils took a trip to the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral recently where they were given a guided tour of the amazing building and to hear all about its history. The children also enjoyed a walk through the Cathedral grounds and lunch in ‘The Well’ of the building.

All of the pupils really enjoyed the trip and to learn so much about one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings.

We were also very proud of our children when a member of staff from the Cathedral said, ‘we would just like to congratulate the children on their exemplary behaviour on their visit to Liverpool Cathedral. It was a pleasure for our team to interact with them.’

Well done Year 5 for being brilliant ambassadors for Bedford!
