School Clubs & Courses
At Bedford Primary we value our work as an Extended School and we are committed to helping our families balance work and family commitments, supporting our children with their learning and offering a broader range of experiences and interests out of hours. We are very proud of our ever increasing range of sports and non-sporting clubs, events and activities and we are committed to offering our services and facilities to our children, families and the wider local community.

After School Clubs
We are proud of the range of activities that we offer our children at Bedford Primary. Our objective is to offer something for everybody throughout the course of the year in our after school clubs, focusing on sporting activities and creative endeavours. We believe that activities after school are equally as important as those during schools hours and we encourage all of our children to take part in after school clubs.
In April 2016 we established the Bedford Academy of Arts with the intention of delivering a series of after school clubs with a broad appeal of creative and artistic subjects. These subjects have included Fashion & Textiles, Creative Crafting, Bedford Bakers, The Garden Gang and Art Club.
We regularly have pop-up shops where we sell goods and produce from our clubs and our garden. We also have our 'Bedford Barrow' which we roll out regularly to display our goods to sell to our families. All money raised through our pop-ups are for our school B.E.S.T Charity. The children who take part in the clubs plan, prepare, price and sell the goods providing them with invaluable business and life skills. We definitely have some talented entrepreneurs in the making!
We offer a range of clubs to our children and cater for all tastes. Some clubs are free of charge and for other clubs there is a small charge, normally of £2 per session, which includes all materials and equipment necessary for the club.
At the end of the Summer Term 2019, all of the children involved in our after school clubs worked together to produce a Finale Show which was performed in front of our Bedford families, friends and other VIPs, including the Mayor of Sefton, at Bootle Town Hall.
The theme of this year's show was The Beatles and our children learned about Liverpool's most famous fab four through performing and acting to their songs. The performances from the children were absolutely outstanding, culminating in the appearance of Bedford Primary's very own Fab Four!
This year we worked in partnership with two students from Liverpool John Moores University to make a film featuring two lifelong Beatles' fans, Arthur and Joan, who had been to see the band in concert in the early 1960s. The children learned so much from this experience - including what a vinyl record looked like and how to play it!

Our after school clubs also provide us with an opportunity to identify children who are gifted and talented in subjects outside of the school curriculum. We work closely with our Club Leaders to identify these children and ensure that their talents are nurtured. We have encouraged a number of our children to pursue their sporting talents in and out of school. We are also very proud that several of our children have joined Theatre Production companies and have starred in productions in theatres in Liverpool, Southport and Manchester.
